Nicaragua is one of the poorest regions in the wesetern hemisphere only exceeded by Haiti. Unemployment is over 85%, the average wage is only $1-2 in US currency and people regularly scavenge the local dumps in search of something to eat, sell or wear.
Since 2008, MCF has partnered with a local orphanage in Puerto Cabezas (on the East Coast of Nicaragua) to provide Gospel-centered humanitarian relief. Pastor Earl Bowie of Verbo Ministries cares for over 100 children, runs the largest school on the East coast of Nicaragua, pastors a local church of over 300 members, runs a local cafe and serves the poorest of the poor as well as a managing a vibrant prison ministry. If that weren’t enough, Pastor Earl has rebuilt and given away over 100 homes in the city of Betania. This city was devasted by hurricane Felix and is being transformed through the life-changing message of Jesus.
Many people have a fear of missions. A mission trip to Nicaragua is an inconvenience, not a hardship. This is a life-changing experience! The people of Nicaragua are materially impoverished and yet spiritually affluent. Rarely is such faith demonstrated in America. Would you pray about making an immediate and dramatic difference and come join us?
