I'm Jeff Warner and I'm the Pastor of MCF Community Church. I am primarily responsible for the overall leadership of the church and I am also the teaching pastor. I have a passion to see people become all that God created them to be and desperately want to help people experience God.
My wife, Dawn, and I moved to College Park, Maryland from Ohio to serve the campus ministry at the University of Maryland in 1989. I actually accepted a full-time position for part-time pay (yes, I was a little crazy)! To be totally honest, I've got bad news and good news. The bad news is that I grew the campus ministry from 40 to 8 in my first few years here (yep, it was a rough start). The good news is that God is greater and the ministry has grown from those 8 brave souls to the vibrant ministry you experience today! I hope you'll help us go to the next level and impact more people to know & grow in Jesus!
Dawn & I were married in 1989 and have lived in College Park until 2008 when we moved to Greenbelt. We have four kids, Jimmy (On staff with Cru at Stevenson University & musician), Danny (Montgomery County Police Officer), Katie (Served as a missionary in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua and is now a Junior at Towson University) and Johnny (Sophomore at UMBC).
I love to run and am a triathlete. I completed my 7th marathon (Oct 2011-under 5 hours!-not bad for an older guy) and have completed several sprint triathlons, half-Ironman and a full Ironman! I have my eyes on future races! So yes, I am a type "A" personality and a recovering perfectionist.
As a college student at The Ohio State University, I surrendered my life to Jesus in 1982. I graduated with an BS in Electrical Engineering and worked for American Electric Power after graduation until I left to plant a church in Kent, Ohio. While in Kent, I worked for the Hoover Company as a design engineer before leaving to attend Kent State for my Master of Business Administration. I met Dawn, my wife, at Kent State and after our marriage, we moved to the College Park area after our graduations to work with the student ministry at the University of Maryland. Jesus has done an amazing work in and through my life and ministry. I'm humbled and privilege to be teamed up with the people of MCF.
I've also prepared a number of materials to help others in their faith in Christ. Many are found under the Resources page. I've written five books, "Walking Through the Darkness" (why God allows bad things to happen to good people), "Dating Successfully" (what does God, not Jeff, say about dating & sex), "My First Steps in Faith" (new to Christ or (re)starting your relationship with Jesus guidebook), "Proverbs-The Book of Wisdom" (every verse in the book of Proverbs placed into over 400 topics and "God's Promises" (over 100 topics with Biblical references for everyday living). In addition, I've written nine Booklets: "Tithing: An Issue of the Heart" (the importance of giving), "The Picture That Changed My Life" (a step by step guide to sharing your faith), "Raising Happy & Obedient Children," "Wealth Builder" (Biblical principles regarding money management. A ten week Bible study series (five booklets) entitled "My Next Steps Bible Studies" walks you through God's five purposes for your life: Membership, Maturity, Ministry, Mission & Magnify. There are numerous "Bible Reading Plans," "My Next Steps" (spiritual roadmap), the Wealth Builder Seminar and the Taming Teens Seminars. In case you're wondering, all of these resources are offered for free to those who experience the ministry of MCF. My heart is to serve others.
I am passionate about helping people encounter Jesus. My door is always open and I'm here to serve you. Feel free to contact me anytime at 240-354-5333 (if you call at night, you'll need to call a bunch to wake me up). Thanks for your interest in MCF!
I live to hear the words..."Well done good and faithful Servant." Matthew 25:21
"Let all you do be done in Love" 1 Corinthians 16:14
